About Us:
The Public Works Department provides a wide range
of services to the citizens of Southbury. Our operations
span 40 square miles and encompass 126 miles of roadway.
The following is a brief overview of our primary
responsibilities:
- Street/highway maintenance and construction
- Stormwater Management
- Maintenance and repair of municipal buildings
- Collection and disposal of municipal solid waste and recyclables
- Procurement, maintenance and repair of all Town
owned vehicles and equipment
- Grounds keeping for all public buildings and parks
- Street signs and line striping
- Select open space and roadside mowing and maintenance
- Street sweeping
- Snow/ice removal
- Town playground equipment maintenance and construction
- Athletic field maintenance and game preparation for
youth/adult athletic programs
- Miscellaneous support services to other Town agencies
