The Elderly Services Department functions as the central resource center for information on programs, activities and services for elderly residents 60 years of age and older. The department also provides information and referral assistance to individuals and families caring for elderly relatives. The department oversees the operation of the Southbury Senior Center, a multi-purpose facility located at 561 Main Street S, Southbury, CT 06488. Elderly Services also administers the Senior Transportation Program and the Elderly Outreach Office. A monthly newsletter, including a calendar of events, is mailed to members to inform them of programs, services, activities and other pertinent information.
Our main objective is to help Southbury’s older citizens remain independent, productive and at home through programs and services such as Meals-on-Wheels, Friendly Visitors, transportation to and from appointments and through the availability of entitlements and benefit programs. We are also glad to provide information on other services available so that our older citizens and their families know where to go if assistance beyond what we can provide is needed.
Elderly Services invites you to come down and experience our sense of community for yourself. We advocate and promote a sense of remaining connected to the community which in turn helps to keep seniors healthy, vibrant, independent and thriving. The Department’s goal is to assist our senior population to continue to thrive and experience a superior quality of life, even in these most challenging times.
