PROPOSED MODIFICATIONS TO TOWN OF SOUTHBURY ZONING REGULATIONS WITH RESPECT TO LIGHTING

The zoning commission is considering revisions to the lighting section (section 11) of the zoning regulations.  The purpose of these lighting regulation amendments is to provide specific standards that promote energy efficient, non-intrusive lighting, reduce and eliminate adverse effects such as light pollution, light trespass, glare, and sky glow. They also set forth a policy for the use and location of lights on town owned athletic fields and for the use of temporary lights.

Advances in lighting techologies as well as the need for clear consistent lighting policies were the driving factors in revamping the regulations.

The commission will hold a public hearing on June 8, 2011 at 7:30 in Southbury Town Hall, room 205 to consider the amendments and to recieve public comments.

We encourage your comments on the proposed amendments.  You can attend and submit your remarks at the public hearing, write us a letter, or email your comments.
