The Planning Department is available to answer land use questions, particularly those relating to potential and existing subdivisions, site plans and special exceptions.
All land use maps are available for viewing and copies of all land use regulations are for sale in the Planning Office.
Additionally, comprehensive plans for Main Street South, Southford, the Exit 16 Area, Streetscape, and the Town's Plan of Conservation and Development are available.
The Planning Department supports the Planning Commission by providing access to regulations, documents, maps and files, administrative support and expertise in planning and state and local regulations.
As one example of the Planning Department's record keeping is a running calculation of the Town's progress toward its goal of preserving as undeveloped open space, 20% of the area or 5,235 acres, by 2012. The status in acres is:
