Permit Process for Residential Improvements

Most improvements to residential structures/properties require permits issued by the Town of Southbury.  This would include projects such as:

• Adding or building a shed.
• Additions.
• Interior alterations.
• Electrical work.
• Plumbing or,
• Heating work.

These requirements are Federal Law, Connecticut Statute or Town Ordinance driven.  Prior to the start of any improvements, all permits should be approved and issued.  Approvals from several departments may be needed depending on the specific activity before a Building Permit can be issued.
