Southbury, Connecticut - History
As you drive through the streets of Southbury, or walk through the new streetscape of Main Street South, you are passing over ground that once was the hunting grounds of the early natives of our town, or possibly where revolutionary troops gathered in our quest for freedom, or where the blaring sound of the railroad locomotive whistle could be heard. Your town has a long history, something that every resident needs to know.
This website provides an introduction to historic Southbury. There are many resources to learn about our History: From the Historic Commissions, the Historical Society, the Museum, and Town Historians, each focusing on and advocating a segment of our history. Please review the History section of this website, you will find it full of information, and a guide to what else is available.
