Full Time or Part Time Positions

Lifeguards for Southbury’s Ballantine Pool. Positions require current American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification. Candidates must be at least 16 years old, available days, evenings and weekends from June 1 through Labor Day. In addition to lifeguarding, guards will engage in swim instruction for young children and will be responsible for some facility maintenance. Applications must be received by May 8, 2015.

Summer Camp Counselors are needed to organize and lead groups of children in a variety of recreational activities; responsible for the overall wellness, safety, and supervision of campers. Must be at least 16 years old, be available weekdays from June 29 through August 7, and have the ability to get along with fellow employees and participants. Temporary Summer Position at the Southbury Public Works Department - 40 hours per week, $9.75 per hour, no benefits. Cuts grass, maintains planting beds, trims shrubbery and ornamentals, and performs other outside maintenance duties as assigned. Must be 18 or older. Open until filled.

Per Diem (as needed) Positions

Per Diem Animal Control Officer to cover in the absence of the Animal Control Officer. Must be over the age of 18 and must have a valid Connecticut driver’s license, NACA Level 1 and/or 2 certification preferred and minimum 2 years of professional animal care experience. $12.50 per hour. Performs all essential duties related to Animal Control Department.

Per Diem Bus Driver to transport elderly and/or disabled Southbury residents to and from appointments and Senior Center. No prior experience necessary, although must hold State of Connecticut license with appropriate endorsements (minimum “F” endorsement), finger printing and current medical certificate from your physician. $13.00 per hour.

Per Diem Reference Librarian (Reference Department) - Masters in Library Science plus one year of related experience. A combination of experience and education may be acceptable. $16.60 per hour. Provides reference and reader’s advisory services to library patrons using special research skills. Instructs library patrons in the use of the public computers and electronic and print resources. May need to supervise Library Assistants as directed by the Head Librarian. May need to be responsible for opening and closing the library building on evening and weekends as directed by the Head Librarian.
